  赌博战略委员会(RGSB负责),客观上决定提供RET;

  打下良好的基础,提供足够的资金来支付整体战略支出;

  Funding research, education and treatment

  The GREaT Foundation, formerly known as the Responsibility in Gambling Trust (RIGT), was established as a charity in 2002 as Britain’s largest funding body responsible for tackling problem gambling through the funding of research, education and treatment from voluntary donations.

  In May 2009, following a restructuring of the organisation, The GREaT Foundation returned to its original perceived function solely of raising funds for gambling research, education and treatment of problem gamblers. At this time a new Board of Trustees was also appointed and Geoffrey Godbold, ex CEO of GamCare - the largest problem gambling treatment provider - was elected the new Director of The GREaT Foundation.

  In June 2009, following numerous discussions, the then Sports Minister - Gerry Sutcliffe - announced that the voluntary funding system would remain in place to help problem gamblers on the condition that a minimum of 5million is raised for each of the following three years.

  Following the Research, Education and Treatment (RET) Review which was published in October 2008, the new structure for the voluntary arrangements for fundraising and funding RET is as follows:

  The Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB) to decide objectively on the provision of RET;

  The GREaT Foundation to provide sufficient funds to pay for the provision of RET against the overall strategy; and

  The Responsible Gambling Fund (RGF) – the commissioning body – to contract and monitor suitable providers

  The ?5million fundraising target which was set by the Government and the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board for the financial year 2009/10 was met.

  Looking forward, the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board has set the 2010/11 fundraising target at 6million.
